GOCL has a well equipped and well staffed Research and Development
division concentrating its efforts in the field of explosives
and blasting techniques. A modern computer is also available,
to cope with modern facilities like explosive bunkers, electron
microscopes, NMR spectroscopy etc. Dedicated scientists are
working in detonics, rock breakage phenomena and explosives.
- R & D group was set up in 1970 to do independent research
in explosives, initiating devices and pyrotechnics.
- Staffed by qualified personnel concentrating their efforts
in the fields of explosives, initiating devices and blasting
techniques.
- Recognised by the Osmania University for award of PhD.
- Our R & D organisation has been recognised by the
Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
- In house research has helped to meet the specific requirements
of our customers in India and overseas, besides Department
of Space and defence establishments.

Results of Research
- Copper Coated Steel Detonators
- Cord Relays
- Non-electric Shocktube Systems
- Permissible Slurry Explosives
- Emulsion Boosters
- Detonating Cords for Gallery Blasting
- Detonating Cords (ranging from 3.6 gms/m to 80 gms/m)
- Explosives and Detonators for Seismic applications
- Explosives for Metal cladding and hardening applications
- Pumpable Explosives & Delivery systems

Basic Research
- Established the IDL Nitro Nobel Basic Research Institute
(INBRI) in Bangalore with Nitro Nobel AB of Sweden to unravel
the mysteries of explosive chemistry it encompasses
diverse fields in chemistry and physics of detonics, rock
breakage phenomena, explosives and other areas.
- Modern facilities like explosive bunker, electron microscope,
NMR spectroscope, etc.
- Since July 2000, the facility has been shifted to Hyderabad.
